Forthcoming events for 2009

In the latest Boagworld podcast there’s a great interview with Andy Budd off of ClearLeft. Towards the end of the interview Andy talked about the benefit of training in improving personal skills. I’m a advocate of on going personal development and see real benefit in knowledge sharing within an organisation as well as attending training courses/workshops and conference.

Luckily Redweb sees the benefit too. In the last couple of years I’ve been gained a lot from this and have been able to attend several conferences, including Clearleft’s Deconstruct back in 2007, and training courses such as HFIs accredited Usability course (CUA).

Thankfully this year’s no exception and I’m already booked to attend some great events in 2009.

Future of Web Apps 2009 – Dublin

On 6 March 2009 along with David Burton, Head of Innovation at Redweb, I’ll be heading out to Dublin for this years FOWA conference.

There seems to be a pretty good line up of speakers already and it should be a good event. I haven’t been to a Carsonified event before so hopefully this won’t disappoint.

UX London

uxlondon This is the first of its kind and another great looking event thanks to Clearleft. Deconstruct is possibly the best conference I’ve been to so I’m really looking forward to UX London, if it’s half as good as Deconstruct it’ll still be worth it. Having said that with the likes of Don Norman, Jared Spool and Leisa Reichelt confirmed as speakers I can’t see how it can fail.

UX London is a unique three-day event combining inspirational talks with in-depth workshops presented by some of the industry‚Äôs biggest names.”

  1. Hey Paul – I can’t agree with you more about investing time and money in improving your own skills, I can’t wait for Future of Web Design this year, which is my first Carsonified event as well, pity we won’t be crossing paths tho mate.

Will you be covering FOWA on here?

Did you guys at RedWeb get free passes for UX London? The passes are over a grand at their regular price!

  2. That is a shame, but I’m sure you’ll have a great time at FOWD. I think there’s some Redwebber’s going to FOWD as well so you’ll have to look out for them.

I think FOWA Dublin is only a single day event but I’ll definitely be writing about it here, so keep an eye out for it. We’ve been discussing holding some sort of Redweb event in Dublin on the Friday night/Saturday daytime for conference goers which could be good if we sort something out in time.

I think I’m the only person from Redweb going to UX London. We didn’t get a free pass (although that would have been nice!) but we did take advantage of the early bird offer. It’s not the cheapest conference but it’s a fantastic line-up and the cost does cover 3 days of talks and workshops so well worth the money in my opinion. Plus its relatively low numbers for a conference so should be a nice atmosphere because of it.

I’ll be blogging about UX London as well.
